Subject:Anyone familiar with this problem From: Ray Kopp <rjkopp@mailbox.syr.edu> Date: 1996-01-04 12:58:53
We have V.32bis and some V.34 modems. Some of the V.32 bis are dual
standard modems.
I have a user that says he has a USR HST modem V.32 14.4. He says that
he can only get 2400 baud connections with most of our modems, but with
the dual standards he can get 9600 baud connections. I have a feeling
he probably has some settings in his modem that are wrong and I was just
wondering if anyone has any experience with this to suggest what settings
might be causing him problems.
I would think he should be able to connect to any of our modems and at
better than 9600 baud, provided his cable supports hardware flow control.
Any other suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying
to install 64 + 32 modems and am pressed for time to go through his setup
item by item. Although I realize it may come to that.
Thanks,
Ray Kopp

Quad V.34 v2.0.5 which supports V.34+ and other features has been released.
It's available via tech support on 1 800 231 8770 to TC owners with a support
contract or firmware maintenance contract.

Does anyone know when v.34+ will be available for the quad modem cards?
thanks,

Ho. Am I understanding what this really means ? Does this mean no more free
flash upgrades and/or that V.34+ will be extra charge.

Oh no, please don't. I'm at overseas, not only I need to have a support/
maintenance contract, I also need to make an international call to get
upgrades. If you will have "restricted" upgrades, so please then implement
some kind of restricted access to an ftp server as many other companies
have.

Products that will be tested include:
Total Control Manager / Network Management Card firmware
Dual T1 firmware
Quad V.34 firmware

1. MP16 problems.
I am having some serious problems with our USR MP16 total control units.
They just plain aren't trustworthy. We bought 10 units sofar, but I
put an order for another 5 on hold. Their failure rate is extremely high.
In the few months we've had them we had 5 units die on us, and right
now 2 units are failing out in the field. They get replaced and all,
but that doesn't solve a thing. Am I the only one with these problems?
Is USR doing anything about it? All I get is rumours and hearsay.
Now my local distributor is saying the powerunits are faulty. Bleh.

Has anyone on the list installed the AutoResponse Add on for the SNMP
management. Apparently it's an added feature that if you don't order
you do not get.
We're expecting it in soon and I'm really feeling the pressure to get
these going since we failed our Beginning of Semester goal for getting
our modems installed. If anyone has any advice or experiences in adding
this add-on I'd like to hear about it, or any special gotchas.
