1998/5/4 Office Router Wizard 2.0 Release Note Introduction The new Office Router Wizard 2.0 is now available for PortMaster(R) ISDN Office Router models OR-U, OR-ST, and OR-AP. This Office Router Wizard runs in the Java environment. Follow its step-by-step instructions to configure a brand-new Office Router unit as a functional ISDN router for Internet access. The most powerful feature of the Office Router Wizard is its ease of use. Once you enter ISDN information into the Wizard, the Office Router is ready to connect to the Internet or to route to the destination network. You do not need to define the IP address of the destination gateway. If you have any questions or suggestions about this version of the Office Router Wizard, send email to orwiz-feedback@livingston.com. Launching with an IP Address If your Office Router OR-U, OR-ST, or OR-AP has an IP address defined, launch the Wizard and then follow the instructions on the Wizard to log in to the unit. Launching without an IP Address If the unit does not have an IP address defined, make sure that both the Office Router and the Wizard reside on the same network before launching the Wizard. The Office Router Wizard creates a BOOTP server and provides the Office Router with the IP address that you entered. The Wizard then connects to the Office Router and continues the configuration process. On a small network, the BOOTP process can take 1 or 2 minutes. However, on a large and more sophisticated network, the process can take 10 minutes or longer. Configuring Multiple Office Routers The Wizard can configure one Office Router at a time. If you have several Office Router units without IP addresses, you must turn on one unit at a time for the BOOTP server to work. Once the unit is completely configured, turn on the next one. However, if all the Office Router units on the network have IP addresses defined, you can use the Wizard to access any one of them to configure the ISDN line. Contents Introduction System Requirements Installing the Office Router on UNIX Systems Installing the Office Router on Windows 95 or NT Limitations of the Office Router Wizard 2.0 System Requirements The Office Router Wizard runs on any platform that supports Java Development Kit (JDK) or Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.1.4 or higher. Currently, JDK 1.1 or JRE 1.1 is available for the following platforms: Windows NT 4.0 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ Windows 95 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ Solaris 2.5.1 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ Solaris x86 2.5.1 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ Linux 2.x ftp://lagrange.la.asu.edu/pub/Linux_jdk/ FreeBSD http://www.freebsd.org/java/ SGI IRIX 6.3 http://www.sgi.com/Products/DevMagic/products/java.html HP-UX 10.02 http://www.hp.com/esy/go/java.html Alpha Digital UNIX 4.0 http://www.digital.com/java/download/jdk_du/1.1.5/index.html IBM AIX 4.1 http://www.ibm.com/java/tools/jdk.html Other Platforms http://java.sun.com/cgi-bin/java-ports.cgi Installing the Office Router Wizard on UNIX Systems 1. Download the following file from the Lucent Remote Access FTP site as follows: ftp ftp.livingston.com binary cd pub/le/software/java get orwiz20.tar quit 2. In your .cshrc, .kshrc, or .bashrc file, define the path for your java interpreter. For example, for .cshrc: set path=( /usr/local/lib/jre1.1.4/bin $path ) 3. Untar the file as follows: tar xvf orwiz20.tar 4. Run the installation program as follows: ./orinstall If your path is defined correctly in the .cshrc file, the installation program displays options for you to select "jre" or "java," or to define your own Java interpreter path. 5. Follow the installation instructions. The default directory for the Office Router Wizard is Lucent/ORWizard. The installation will create a shell script for running the Wizard. 6. Launch the Office Router Wizard as follows: ./orwizard 7. If you want to run the Office Router Wizard from outside the installation directory, make a copy of the orwizard file. Open the file in a text editor and change the -cp argument to include the full path to the orwizard.jar file as follows: jre -cp /fullpath/orwizard.jar ORWizard Installing the Office Router Wizard on Windows 95 or NT 1. Use the ftptool or launch the DOS window to download the Office Router Wizard installation file into the C:\temp directory as follows: ftp ftp.livingston.com binary cd pub/le/software/java get orwiz20.zip quit 2. Make sure that your PC has an Unzip utility. Then click the downloaded installation file and select the Unzip option. 3. To start the Office Router Wizard installation, click the START_HERE.html file and follow those installation instructions. 4. After the installation is complete, launch the Office Router Wizard by selecting the ORWizard shortcut from the Lucent folder under Programs in your Start menu. Limitations in Office Router Wizard 2.0 Only on-demand and continuous dialing are supported. Manual dialing is not supported. The Office Router Wizard creates a location for dialing out only. It can not create a user entry for dialing in. The location created by the Office Router Wizard initially sets the destination address to be negotiated. If the ISP's server is also configured to negotiate the address, an IPCP request or NAK loop occurs and the connection fails. The Office Router Wizard does not create input filter rules that allow access to internal servers. The Office Router Wizard does not support a network address translator (NAT). The Windows installation does not always create the shortcut in the Start menu. If the ORWizard does not appear to launch, there may be a problem with the run script orwizard or orwizard.bat. Open this file and verify that the current directory ("/./") is not in the -cp argument. Example: jre -cp /home/usr/Lucent/ORWizard/./orwizard.jar ORWizard $* ^ BAD - REMOVE On WindowsNT systems, the links shown in the help pages do not work. This problem will be fixed when Java 1.1.6 becomes widely available. Copyrights and Trademarks Copyright 1998 Lucent Technologies. All rights reserved.
