Creating a source IP subnet-based VLAN
Source IP subnet-based VLANs are supported only on Passport 1000 Series and Passport 8000 Series switches.
To create a source IP subnet-based VLAN:
- In the navigation pane, select an STG.
- Do one of the following:
- From the menu bar, choose Edit > Insert.
- On the toolbar, click Insert.

- Type the VLAN ID.
| The value can be from 1 to 4094, as long as it is not already in use. (The default VLAN has a VLAN ID of 1.) |
- Type the VLAN name (optional).
| If no name is entered, a default is created. |
- For a Passport 8600 switch, you the QoS Level (optional)
- For a Passport 1000 Series switch, specify if the VLAN traffic will be tagged as High Priority (optional).
- In the Type option, select bySubnet.
| Other items in the dialog box that apply to a subnet-based VLAN are activated. |
- In the Subnet text box, type the source IP subnet address.
- In the Mask text box, type the IP subnet mask.
- Select the device to be configured on the VLAN by doing one of the following:
- Select from the device list.
- Click the Clear all/Select all button to toggle between all devices selected and all devices deselected.

Note:
Not all VLAN types are available on all devices that Optivity Switch Manager supports. Devices that do not support source IP subnet-based VLANs will be absent from the device list.

- Click Ok.
