Uploading configuration files from BayStack and similar devices

You can use File/Inventory Manager to upload configuration files from BayStack devices to a TFTP server. You can upload configuration files from more than one device at a time.

When uploading configuration files, the actual upload operation is performed by a TFTP server. The destination directory for upload operations is determined by the settings of the TFTP server.

To upload configuration files from BayStack or similar network devices to a TFTP server:

  1. In the File/Inventory Manager navigation pane, select the BayStack device family folder.
  2. From the menu bar, choose Actions > Upload File from Device(s).
  3. The Upload Config from Device(s) dialog box opens.
  4. In the TFTP Server box, enter the hostname or IP address of the TFTP server for the upload operation.
  5. If you have specified a default TFTP server in the Optivity Switch Manager Preferences dialog box, that server will automatically appear in the TFTP Server box. For more information, see Preferences dialog box.
  6. Use the ConfigFileName box to enter the base filename for the configuration file name. Observe the following points regarding the configuration file name:
  7. In the Upload Log file name box, choose the file to which Optivity Switch Manager logs the results of the download operation.
  8. Or, click the "..." button to the right of the text box to open a find file dialog box that lets you navigate to the file.
You can use the log file later to view information about the download operation.
  9. In the Devices list, select one or more devices from which to upload the selected configuration file.
  10. Click Upload.
  11. File/Inventory Manager opens an alert box to prompt you to confirm the upload operation.
  12. Click Yes to continue.
  13. Optivity Switch Manager uploads the selected file from the selected device, and logs the results of the upload operation to the selected log file.
A message that shows the results of the operation appears at the bottom of the dialog box, as shown in the following figure.
