Downloading image and configuration files to BayStack and similar devices

Note Note: After downloading image or configuration files to BayStack family devices, the device resets. Your network may be temporarily disrupted while the device reboots.

To download agent image or configuration files from a TFTP server to BayStack and similar network devices:

  1. In the File/Inventory Manager navigation pane, select the BayStack device family folder.
  2. From the menu bar, choose Actions > Download File to Device(s).
  3. The Download Config/Image to Device dialog box opens.
  4. In the TFTP Server box, enter the hostname or IP address of the TFTP server form the download operation.
  5. If you have specified a default TFTP server in the Optivity Switch Manager Preferences dialog box, that server will automatically appear in the TFTP Server box. For more information, see Preferences dialog box.
  6. Use the ConfigFileName or ImageFileName boxes to enter the base filename for the file you are downloading.
  7. Use the Action radio buttons to set whether you are downloading a configuration file (dnldConfig) or an image file (dnldImage).
  8. Use the Prefix IP address for Source File radio buttons to set how the filename is interpreted:
  9. In the Download Log file name box, choose the file to which Optivity Switch Manager logs the results of the download operation. Or, click the "..." button to the right of the text box to open a find file dialog box that lets you navigate to the file.
  10. You can use the log file later to view information about the download operation.
  11. In the Devices list, select the device to which to download the selected configuration or image file.
  12. Click Download.
  13. Optivity Switch Manager downloads the selected file to the selected device, and logs the results of the download operation to the selected log file.
    A message that shows the results of the operation appears at the bottom of the dialog box, as shown in the following figure.
