Device Manager Overview
Device Manager is an application that manages network devices using the Simple
Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Device Manager is a graphical user
interface (GUI) between you and the supported devices that make up your network.
Device Manager allows you to remotely manage a single device, just as though you
were in the wiring closet. It makes retrieval of configuration information for a
device a point-and-click operation.
Device Manager displays a real-time physical view of the front panel of a
device. From the front panel view, you can view fault, configuration, and
performance information for the device, a module, or a single port.
Other management tools that are not part of device management software, such
as VLAN Manager and the command line interface (CLI), allow you to manage other
aspects of your routing switch.
The features described in this Help system are generic to all Device Manager
applications.
