Manually initiating a SPF run

From the OSPF > General tab, you can manually initiate a SPF, or Dijkstra, run to immediately update the OSPF link-state database. This is useful, for example:

• When you need to immediately restore a deleted OSPF-learned route.
• As a debug mechanism when the routing table's entries and the link-state database are out of sync.

To force an SPF calculation:

1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IP Routing > OSPF.

The OSPF dialog box opens with the General tab displayed.

2. In the OSPF Action field, click runSpf.
3. Click Apply.

Device Manager prompts you to confirm if you want to initiate the SPF run.

4. Click Yes to confirm the forced SPF run.

The router performs the SPF run and the OSPF link state database is updated. Note: After initiating an SPF run, wait 10 seconds before initiating another SPF run.
