Configuring IPX routing

When you use IPXCP encapsulation, you must select Ethernet II as the MAC encapsulation for the protocol-based VLANs. IPXCP supports only the Ethernet II format.

To configure the Passport 8683POSE Module for IPX routing:

  1. Configure an Ethernet II protocol-based VLAN.
  2. On the device view, highlight the port.
  3. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > port.
    4. The Port dialog box opens with the Interface tab displayed.
  4. Disable the port. For information on how to disable a port, see Enabling or disabling a port.
  5. To configure the VLAN as an IPX protocol-based VLAN and assign the port to the VLAN:
    1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLAN.
      2. The VLAN dialog box opens with the Basic tab displayed.
