Creating a port-based VLAN

To create a port-based VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens with the Basic tab displayed.
  3. In the Basic tab, click Insert.
  4. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens with byPort selected in the Type field.
  5. In the Id field, type the VLAN ID. The value can be from 1 to 4094, as long as it is not already in use. (The default VLAN has a VLAN ID of 1.)
  6. In the Name field, type the VLAN name (optional).
  7. If no name is entered, a default is created.
  8. In the color field, select the VLAN color (optional).
  9. Device Manager suggests a color, but you can change it.
  10. In the StgId field, type or select the spanning tree group ID of the VLAN.
  11. In the Type field, select byPort.
  12. In the PortMembers field, type or specify the ports of the VLAN.
  13. Click the HighPriority box if you want traffic from this VLAN to have high priority.
  14. Click Insert.
  15. In the Basic tab, highlight the newly created VLAN and do one of the following:
