Manually initiating a SPF run with Device Manager

An OSPF router calculates its shortest path trees using itself as the root. If the network is stable, a route that was accidentally deleted from the routing table may not reappear for days. You can manually initiate a shortest path first (SPF) run from the OSPF > General tab to immediately restore a deleted route.

To force an SPF calculation:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IP Routing > OSPF.
  2. The OSPF dialog box opens with the General tab displayed.
  3. In the OSPF Action field, click runSpf.
  4. Device Manager prompts you to confirm you want to initiate the SPF run.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the forced SPF run.
  6. The SPF run is performed.

Note Note: Wait at least 10 seconds after initiating an SPF run before performing another SPF run.
