IP interface configuration

Use the IP Address dialog box to configure a virtual routing port or a physical routing port as described in the following sections. By default, IP forwarding is enabled.

You can also configure other protocols and features (such as IPX or IP filtering) for the switch.

The following sections guide you through the process of configuring IP for router or virtual router interfaces:

  1. Enabling IP forwarding
  2. Configuring the interface IP address

The following configuration steps are optional:

  1. Configuring ARP for the interface
  2. Enabling or disabling BootP/DHCP
  3. VRRP configuration and management
  4. Enabling DVMRP globally
  5. Configuring L3 IGMP
  6. Configuring RIP globally
  7. Enabling OSPF on an interface

You can also configure other protocols and features (such as IPX or IP filtering) for the switch.

The following sections give instructions to complete the first three steps for isolated routing ports and virtual router ports.
