Managing UDP forwarding protocols

To enter protocols into the UDP Forwarding Protocols table, do the following:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IP Routing > UDP Forwarding.
  2. The UDP_Forward dialog box opens with the Protocols tab open, listing the UDP protocols with broadcasts that can be forwarded.

The Passport 8600 switch is configured with the following well-known protocols:

These protocols cannot be deleted. You may add to the list of protocols.

  1. Click Insert.
  2. The UDP_Forward, Insert Protocols dialog box opens.

The table below describes the items in the Protocols tab and the UDP Forwarding, Insert Protocols dialog box.


Item Description
Port Number
Port number associated with the protocol. The range is from 1 to 65,535, and it must not be a well-known UDP port number.
Name
Select from the following protocol names:
  • Time Service
  • TACACS Service
  • DNS
  • TFTP
  • NetBIOS Name Service
  • NetBIOS Data Service

  1. In the PortNumber text box, type a port number (UDP port).
  2. This number defines the port (UDP port) used by the server process as its contact port.The range is from 1 to 65535 and cannot be one of the well- known UDP port numbers or a number previously assigned.
  3. In the Name text box, type a name for the protocol.
  4. Click Insert.
  5. The protocol is added to the Protocol table.

    Note Note: Once created, a protocol name or number cannot be changed.
