Trap feature

The Passport 8600 chassis with a functioning Passport 8683POS Module automatically receives SONET-specific traps.

To configure the device for SONET-specific traps:

  1. In Device Manager, select the chassis.
    2. The frame of the chassis is highlighted.
  2. Choose Edit > Chassis.
    3. The chassis dialog box opens with the System tab displayed.
  3. Click the Trap Receivers tab.
    4. The Trap Receivers tab opens.

The table below describes the fields in the Trap Receivers tab.


Field Description
IpAddress
IP address to which the entry's addressing information pertains.
Community
Community string used for trap messages to this trap receiver.
Version
Version

  1. Click Insert.
    2. The Chassis, Insert Trap Receivers dialog box opens.

Field Description

IP address to which the entry's addressing information pertains.

  1. Enter the IP address of the device you are monitoring and click Insert.
    2. The dialog box closes and the Trap Receivers tab is redisplayed.
  2. Click Apply.
