In the VLAN tab, you can change the port type and view the port's VLAN information.


Item	Description
PerformTagging	Specifies whether or not the ports perform tagging. If this box is checked, the ports send and receive IEEE 802.1Q tagged frames. If this box is not checked, the ports send and receive only untagged frames.
VlanNames	The VLAN IDs of which this port is a member.
DiscardTaggedFrames	Specifies whether or not to discard tagged frames on a port where tagging is disabled.
DiscardUntaggedFrames	Specifies whether or not to discard untagged frames on a port where tagging is enabled.
DefaultVlanId	The VLAN used as a default when a trunk port receives tagged packets. It must be a valid port-based VLAN in STG 1, and the trunk port must be a member of that VLAN. The range is from 1 to 4094.

You can configure a Passport tagged port to discard untagged frames or to associate them with a VLAN. In the latter case, when an untagged frame is received on a tagged port, it is sent to the user-specified VLAN. This VLAN must be port based and in spanning tree group 1 (STG 1).

You can configure an access port (a port with tagging set to false) to discard tagged frames or to associate them with the VLAN specified in the tag. If an untagged frame is associated with a VLAN and is received on a tagged port, you must have specified a port-based VLAN in spanning tree group 1 (STG1) as the default, and the tagged port must be a member of that VLAN. Otherwise, the frame is discarded.


	Note: To optimize performance on untagged ports in configurations where you do not expect to see tagged frames, you should set DiscardTaggedFrames to true. However, on untagged ports for interconnecting switches, it is probably better to set the DiscardTaggedFrames item to false. That way, if you should convert an interswitch port from an untagged port to a tagged port, you will not lose connectivity.
