Protocol tab

Use the Protocol tab to define new protocols and establish which protocols are forwarded for UDP broadcast forwarding. The Protocol table lists the UDP protocols with broadcasts that are forwarded.

To open the UDP Forwarding dialog box:

From the Device Manager window menu bar, choose IP Routing > UDP Forwarding.

The UDP Forwarding dialog box opens with the Protocol tab displayed.

The table below describes the items in the Protocol tab and the UDP Forwarding, Insert Protocol dialog box.


Item Description
Port Number
Port number associated with the protocol. Enter a range from 1 to 65,535, but do not enter a well-known UDP port number.
Name
Select from the following protocol names:
Time Service
TACACS Service
DNS
TFTP
NetBIOS Name Service
NetBIOS Data Service

A Passport switch is configured with the following well-known protocols and port numbers:

These protocols cannot be deleted. You can add to the list of protocols.

To add a protocol:

  1. From the Device Manager window menu bar, choose IP Routing > UDP Forwarding.
  2. The UDP Forwarding dialog box opens with the Protocol tab displayed.
  3. Click Insert.
  4. The Insert Forwarding Protocol dialog box opens.
  5. In the PortNumber text box, type a port number (UDP port).
  6. In the Name text box, type a name for the protocol.
  7. Click Insert.
  8. The protocol is added to the Protocol table.

    Note Note: Once created, a protocol name or number cannot be changed.
