TFTP tab

You can upload and save your configuration to a TFTP server from the TFTP tab of the Chassis dialog box.

The table below describes the TFTP tab items.


Item Description
Host
The TFTP server's IP address or DNS name.
File
The file to upload or download to the TFTP server.
Action
The TFTP operation is one of the following operations:
  • downloadConfig to download the configuration file from the TFTP server to the device.
  • uploadConfig to upload the configuration file from the device to the TFTP server.
  • downloadSwToFlash to download the software file from the TFTP server to flash memory.
  • downloadSwToPcmcia (1200 only) to download the software file from the TFTP server to PCMCIA.
Note: When setting up the TFTP server on Solaris workstations, you must uncomment the TFTP daemon line in /etc/inet.conf and not use the -s option.
Result
The result of the last operation.

Uploading your configuration file

To upload your configuration to a TFTP server:

  1. Save the configuration to NVRAM.
  2. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis.
  3. The Chassis dialog box opens with the System tab displayed.
  4. Click the TFTP tab.
  5. The TFTP tab opens.
  6. In the Action field, select uploadConfig.
  7. In the Host field, type the IP address or name.
  8. In the File field, type the file name.
  9. Click Apply to start the transfer.
  10. Click Refresh to check the status of the transfer.

Downloading your configuration file

To download and save a configuration file:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis.
  2. The Chassis dialog box opens with the System tab displayed.
  3. Click the TFTP tab.
  4. The TFTP tab opens.
  5. In the Action field, select downloadConfig.
  6. In the File field, type the file name.
  7. Click Apply to start the transfer.
  8. Click Refresh to check the status of the transfer.
  9. Save the configuration to NVRAM.
  10. Right-click on the graphical representation of the chassis.
  11. Select Save.
  12. You can save the configuration to either the active or the standby SSF module. You cannot use the new configuration until the device is reset.

To download run-time software from the TFTP server:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis.
  2. The Chassis dialog box opens with the System tab displayed.
  3. Click the TFTP tab.
  4. The TFTP tab opens.
  5. In the Action field, select downloadSwToFlash to download the software to the flash device, or downloadSwToPcmcia to download the software to the PCMCIA card.
  6. Click Apply to start the transfer.
  7. Click Refresh to check the status of the transfer.
