The Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol is the primary TCP/IP routing protocol. Routers use OSPF to exchange network topology information among themselves, giving each router a map of the network. By searching their maps, routers know how to move packets through the network to their destinations.

In the Passport 1000 Series chassis, the router has OSPF global parameters that are used by all router interfaces using OSPF. Both isolated routing ports and virtual routing interfaces use the same OSPF global parameters.

Use the OSPF dialog box to configure OSPF global parameters and to access other OSPF management tabs.

To open the OSPF dialog box:

From the Device Manager window menu bar, choose IP Routing > OSPF.

The OSPF dialog box opens with the General tab displayed.
