Syslog tab

Use the Syslog tab to enable the syslog globally. You can send messages to as many as 10 syslog hosts. By default, five hosts are supported.

To enable syslog globally:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Diagnostics.
  2. The Diagnostics dialog box opens with the Test tab displayed.
  3. Click the Syslog tab.
  4. The Syslog tab opens.

The table below describes the Syslog tab items.


Item Description
Enable
Used to enable/disable the Syslog feature. When enabled, this feature sends a message to a server on a network that is configured to receive and store diagnostic messages from this device. The type of messages sent is user configurable.
MaxHosts
The maximum number of remote hosts considered active and able to receive messages from the Syslog service.
OperState
The operational state of the Syslog service.

  1. Set Enable to true by checking the check box.
  2. In the MaxHosts field, set the maximum number of hosts (1 to 10).
