       Installation Instruction for JRE v1.3.0 on Solaris system

Installation procedure for JRE v1.3.0 on a Solaris system:

1.  Download the Unix script file "j2re1_3_0-solsparc.bin" into your home 
    directory (e.g., /home/bob). 

2.  Make the file executable
    (e.g., %% chmod a+x /home/bob/j2re1_3_0-solsparc.bin)

3.  Change working directory to "/usr".  This is the directory where the
   JRE will be installed.
    (e.g., %% cd /usr)

4.  You must be root to run the JRE installation. Switch user to root.
    (e.g., %% su root)

5.  Execute the script file.  The script will install the JRE into a
    subdirectory named "j2re1_3_0".
    (e.g., %% /home/bob/j2re1_3_0-solsparc.bin)

6.  Remove the downloaded Unix script file from your home directory. 
    It is no longer needed and consumes ~14 mbytes of disk space.
    (e.g., %% rm /home/bob/j2re1_3_0-solsparc.bin) 

7.  Update your ".cshrc" file and/or manually set your environment
    variable $JAVA_HOME to refer to the subdirectory where JRE was
    installed.
    (e.g., %% setenv JAVA_HOME /usr/j2re1_3_0) 

8.  Update your ".cshrc" file and/or manually update your environment
    variable path to refer to the subdirectory where the JRE was 
    installed.
    (e.g., "set path = ($path /usr/j2re1_3_0/bin)")
