What is Optivity Switch Manager?

Optivity Switch Manager is a Java-based network management application that allows you to discover and view up to 100 devices and their physical links on a graphical topology map. From Optivity Switch Manager, you can launch four different submanagers:

• VLAN Manager
• MultiLink Trunk (MLT) Manager
• Multicast Manager
• Device Manager

These submanagers allow you configure, manage, and monitor various protocols and settings in devices within your network. Changes you make using Optivity Switch Manager submanagers are saved in the device's configuration, not in Optivity Switch Manager or its submanagers.

Optivity Switch Manager allows you to manage small to medium-sized networks. Since Optivity Switch Manager is a Java-based tool, it is platform independent. Optivity Switch Manager is also a real-time SNMP tool, and you can save the topology map, error log, preferences, and communities in the application.
