Optivity Switch Manager was written in Java and uses one of two different Java Runtime Environments (JREs). For the Windows operating system, JRE 1.1.8 is required. The Solaris operating system requires JRE 1.1.8.9.
Optivity Switch Manager and one of its submanagers, Device Manager, are standalone Java applications that users install on their local client machines. Because the Optivity Switch Manager software includes the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) necessary to run the application, users do not need to download JVM separately.
Note:
You must install the JRE software if you are operating in a Solaris environment.
