Enable IP forwarding globally

By default, IP forwarding is enabled.

To verify that IP forwarding is enabled globally:

  1. From the main menu, do one of the following:
  2. ­ Choose IP Routing > IP
    The Port IP dialog box opens.
    ­ Choose IP Routing > IP
    The VLAN IP dialog box opens.
  3. Select Forwarding in the Forwarding field.
  4. Click Apply.

    Field Description
    Forwarding
    Sets the switch for IP forwarding (routing) or nonforwarding. The default is forwarding.
    DefaultTTL
    The default value inserted in the Time-To-Live (TTL) field of the IP header of datagrams originated by the routing switch whenever a TTL value is not supplied by the transport layer protocol. Default is 255 seconds.
    ReasmTimeout
    The maximum number of seconds that received fragments are held while they are awaiting reassembly of this entity. This value cannot be changed by the user.
    ARPLifeTime
    The lifetime of an ARP entry within the system, global to the switch. Default is 360 minutes.
