Enabling and inserting an MLT
To enable and then insert a MultiLink Trunk:
- From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > MLT.
| The MLT dialog box opens. If there is an active MLT, it is displayed in this dialog. |
The following table describes the fields in the MLT, Insert Multi Link Trunks tab.
Index
|
The logical port trunk index. The trunk group number depends on the existence of the unit and module. In this case, it is a number from 1 to 6, inclusive.
|
MasterPort
|
Identifies the master port number of the port trunk entry. When using port trunk, you cannot configure any other ports in the group, except the master port. You must configure these other ports in the same way as the master port. In other words, speed, duplex, enabled/disabled, flow control etc. must be the same.
|
Member
|
Indicates how many ports are included in this trunk. The trunk port number depends on the existence of the module. The maximum number of ports for one trunk is 4.
|
FloodingPort
|
Indicates the flooding port number of the port trunk entry. The first port in the trunk is implicitly configured as the flooding port.
|
State
|
Identifies the status of this entry. Possible values here include:
- disabled - the port trunk is disabled.
- enabled- the port trunk is enabled.
|
- In the Multi Link Trunks tab, click Insert.
| The MLT, Insert MultiLink Trunks dialog box opens. |
- Enter the index number from 1 to 6.
- Specify the master port by clicking the MasterPort ellipsis button.
| The swL2TrunkMasterPort dialog box opens. |
- Select the trunk master port.
| This port will appear depressed. Note that this master port must belong to PortMembers. |
- Specify the member ports by clicking the Member ellipsis button.
| The swL2TrunkMember dialog box opens. |
- Select the trunk member port.
| This port will appear depressed. Note that the 1600 Series switch does not support a single port MLT. Thus, the MLT member contains at least 2 ports. |
- Set the State to enabled.
- On the MLT, Insert Multi Link Trunks dialog box, click Insert.
