Assigning ports as IGMP snoop router ports
Router ports in IGMP snooping indicate ports that have IP multicast routers attached to them. These routers are responsible for sending queries that refresh the group membership status and handle the IGMP leave processes. The IGMP router port table shows the router ports. The ports can be dynamically learned by the switch when it detect queries on the ports, or they can be configured statically to indicate the presence of a multicast router. When a port is a multicast router port, IGMP reports and leave messages are forwarded to this port. Also, multicast data is forwarded to multicast router ports when it is received on the VLAN to which the ports belong.
To assign ports as router ports:
- From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IR Routing > IGMP.
| The IGMPSnoop dialog box opens with the Snoop Globals tab displayed. |
- Click the Snoop Router Ports tab.
| The Snoop Router Ports tab opens. |
