Chassis dialog box--Protocol Control tab fields


Field Description
StpState
Enables or disables the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) globally. STP detects and eliminates logical loops in a bridged or switched network.
StpForwardBPDU
Enables or disables STP forwarding BPDUs (bridge protocol data units) globally. STP uses BPDUs to determine the presence of network loops.
IGMPSnooping
Enables or disables IGMP snooping, which allows IGMPv1 and IGMPv2 to prune group membership per port within a VLAN.
RmonState
Enables or disables RMON globally. RMON allows you to continuously collect statistics and monitor switch performance.
RIPState
Enables or disables RIP globally. RIP is a distance-vector routing protocol for use in small to moderate-sized IP networks.
OSPFState
Enables or disables OSPF globally. OSPF is a link-state routing protocol for use in large IP networks.
DVMRPState
DVMRP is not currently supported on the Passport 1600 Series switch.
