Disabling STP on an interface

Should you wish, you can disable STP globally or on a per port basis. The example that follows explains how to disable STP on the interface level.

You can disable STP on the interface level in one of two ways:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > STP.
  2. The STP dialog box opens with the Globals tab displayed.
    1. Click STP Ports.
    2. The STP Ports dialog box opens.
    3. Click the Status field for the desired port and then click disabled in the selection menu that appears.
  3. From the Device Manager main window, use the mouse and right click on the port on which you wish to disable STP.
    1. Select disable from the selection menu that appears
    2. You will be prompted with a message asking if you really wish to disable the selected port.
    3. Click Yes.
    4. To confirm that the port has indeed been disabled, select Edit > Port.
    5. The Port 1/12 dialog opens with the Interface tab displayed.
    6. Click the STP tab.
    7. The Port 1/12 dialog, STP tab appears

    8. Click Close to return to the main Device Manager window.
