Filtering IP addresses

You can configure the Passport 1600 Series switch to filter on specific destination IP addresses. Unlike MAC filtering, however, you are not tied to a VLAN or port level. Thus, an IP filter is applied globally on the Passport 1600 Series switch.

The example that follows adds an IP filter to the configuration shown in "Filtering MAC addresses." It does so in order to block forwarding to IP address 10.1.1.10.

To filter IP addresses:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IP Routing > Filter.
  2. The ACL dialog box opens with the Template Mode tab displayed.
  3. Click the Destination IP Filter tab.
  4. The Destination IP Filter tab opens.
  5. Click Insert.
  6. The ACL, Insert Destination IP Filter dialog opens
  7. Enter 1 as the Index.
  8. Enter the IP address you wish to filter in the IPAddr: field and then click Insert.
  9. Click Close to return to the main Device Manager window.
