Overview of QoS service classes and priorities

The Passport 1600 Series switch supports four class priority output queues per port into which the packet can be placed. Each of the four queues is mapped to one of eight QoS level identifications, and queues are serviced using guaranteed Weighted Round Robin.

Class IDs on the Passport 1600 are assigned based upon a minimum bandwidth guarantee. Thus, you assign each class a minimum bandwidth guarantee of the link, so that the weight set for each queue establishes the percentage bandwidth amount allocated to the queue.
