Editing trap receivers

You can edit how devices receive SNMP traps by editing the community strings and the SNMP version format.

Note Note: If the Trap Receivers tab takes a long time to open, it may be that the IP address of a trap receiver cannot be resolved to a DNS name. By default, Device Manager attempts to resolve IP addresses to DNS names.

To edit how traps will be received:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis.
  2. The Chassis dialog box opens with the System tab displayed.
  3. Click on the Trap Receivers tab.
  4. The Chassis dialog box--Trap Receivers tab opens.
  5. Click Insert
  6. The Chassis, Insert Trap Receivers dialog box opens.
  7. In the Chassis, Insert Trap Receivers dialog box, enter the appropriate information for your configuration.
  8. In the Chassis, Insert Trap Receivers dialog box, click Insert.
  9. The new information is displayed in the Chassis dialog box--Trap Receivers tab.
