Accepting tagged frames on a VLAN

To set a port to accept only the tagged frames it receives:

  1. Select the port.
  2. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Port.
  3. The Port dialog box opens with the Interface tab displayed.
  4. Click the VLAN tab.
  5. The VLAN tab opens.

The table that follows describes the fields in the VLAN tab.

DefaultVlanId
The default VLAN ID assigned to untagged frames or priority-tagged frames received on this port.
AcceptableFrameTypes
When you select admit only tagged VLAN frames, the1424T switch discards untagged frames or priority-tagged frames received on this port.
When you select admit all frames, untagged frames or priority-tagged frames received on this port are accepted and assigned to the VLAN ID for this port.
IngressFiltering
A port on a switch where packets are flowing into the switch and which requires a VLAN decision is referred to as an ingress port.
When you enable ingress filtering for a port, the 1424T switch discards incoming frames for VLANs which do not include this port in its member set. When you leave the box unchecked, the port accepts all incoming frames.
GvrpStatus
This field specifies the state of GARP VLAN registration protocol (GVRP) operation on this port. When you select enable, GVRP is enabled on this port, as long as GvrpStatus is also enabled for the 1424T switch.
When you disable it, GvrpStatus is still enabled for the 1424T switch. However, GVRP is disabled on this port. As a result, any GVRP packets received are silently discarded and no GVRP registrations are propagated from other ports.

  1. Select the appropriate options for AcceptableFrameTypes.
  2. Click Apply.
