Assigning an IP address on a router port
When you assign an IP address to a router port, keep these rules in mind:
- You cannot edit the IP address, and you can assign only one IP address to any router interface (router or virtual).
| Attempting to assign a second IP address returns an invalid IP address error. |
- If you want to assign a new IP address to a router port that already has an IP address, first remove the existing IP address and then insert the new IP address.
To configure an IP address on a router port:
- From the Device Manager menu bar, select IP Routing > IP.

- Click forwarding (this enables routing on the device).
- Do one of the following:
- On the device view, double-click a port.
- On the device view, right-click a port. On the shortcut menu, choose Edit.
- On the device view, select a port. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Port.
- On the device view, select a port. On the Device Manager toolbar, choose the Edit Selected button.

- Click the IP Address tab.

- Click Insert.

- Enter the IP address and Net mask.
- Click Insert.
