To create a source address MAC-based VLAN:
| The VLAN dialog box opens. |
| The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens. This dialog box opens with the Type field set to byPort. |
| The dialog box changes to display fields needed to set up source MAC-based VLANs. |
| If no name is entered, a default name is created. |
|
|
Note:
In independent VLAN (IVL) mode, each VLAN uses an unique forwarding database. In shared VLAN (SVL) mode, multiple VLANs use a single forwarding database. IVL is not supported in Hybrid Stack Operational mode. The hybrid stack mode is not supported in this release of the BayStack 460-24T-PWR switch. |
| The system returns you to the VLAN Basic tab. |
| The Port Members dialog box opens. |
|
| Note: You can add ports that are also members of other VLANs within the same STG. However, you cannot add ports that are members of a VLAN that is within a different STG. |
| The system returns you to the VLAN Basic tab. |
| The MAC, VLAN dialog box opens. |
| The Insert VLAN MAC dialog box opens. |
| When you click File on the MAC, VLAN dialog box, a box opens that allows you to use text files to edit your MAC-based VLAN memebership to ensure consistent membership across devices. |
Note:
In a source MAC-based VLAN, a potential member becomes an active member of the VLAN when a frame with the specified source MAC address is received. Source MAC-based VLANs are not supported in a mixed, or hybrid, stack.
Hybrid stacking is not supported in this release of the BayStack 460-24T-PWR switch.
