Configuring a virtual server

All server load balance client requests are addressed to an IP address on a virtual server. Clients get the virtual server IP address through DNS resolution.

To configure a virtual server:

  1. From the device view, select the Web Switching Module.
  2. The Web Switching Module is highlighted.
  3. From the Edit menu, choose WSM Card > L4 Switching> SLB.
  4. The Server Load Balance dialog box opens to the General tab.
  5. Click the Virtual Server tab.
  6. The Virtual Server tab opens.
  7. Click Insert.
  8. The Insert Virtual Servers dialog box opens .
  9. In the Virtual Servers field, type a virtual server number (1 - 256).
  10. In the IP Address field, type an IP address for the virtual server.
  11. In the State field, click Enabled.
  12. Use the other fields to further define the virtual server.
  13. Click Insert.
  14. The virtual server is entered into the Virtual Servers tab and the Insert Virtual Server dialog box closes.
  15. Click Apply > Close.
  16. The virtual server is configured and the Server Load Balance dialog box closes.
