Creating a source MAC address-based VLAN (using batch files)

To enable the source MAC address-based VLANs (using batch files):

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis > Chassis.
  2. Disable GlobalFilterEnable and click Apply.
  3. Enable VlanBySrcMacEnable and click Apply.

To create a source MAC address-based VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens.
  3. In the Basic tab, click Insert.
  4. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens.
  5. Change the Type field to bySrcMac.
  6. The dialog box activates additional fields needed to set up source MAC address-based VLANs.
  7. Type the unique VLAN ID.
  8. Type the VLAN name (optional).
  9. If no name is entered, a default is created.
  10. Select the color (optional).
  11. Device Manager suggests a color, but you can change it.This color is used by VLAN Manager to display the different VLANs in a network.
  12. Select the spanning tree group ID of the VLAN.
  13. Change the Type field to bySrcMac.
  14. Specify the port membership by clicking the PortMembers, StaticMembers, or NotAllowedToJoin ellipsis button. For protocol types: byIpSubnet, byProtocolid, and bySrcMac use the PortMember ellipsis button.
  15. The VlanPortMembers dialog box opens.
  16. In the VlanPortMembers dialog boxclick each port button until the color representing the desired membership color is visible.
  17. Click OK.
  18. Specify the AgingTime (the timeout period in seconds for aging out the dynamic member ports of the VLAN) or use the default of 600 seconds.
  19. Select the QosLevel (optional).
  20. Type a DsField (optional).
  21. In the VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box, click Insert.
  22. In the VLAN dialog box, highlight the newly created VLAN.
  23. Click Mac.
  24. Click File.
  25. The Edit Mac VLAN dialog box opens.
  26. In the Edit Mac VLAN dialog box, click Add From File.
  27. Browse to where your MAC address file is located.
  28. Click Add From File, to add MAC address entries.
  29. Click Save To File, to save the MAC address file.
  30. Click Delete Members On Device, to delete file entries on the device.
