Working with VLANs

For information about configuring IP routing on a VLAN, refer to Reference for the Passport 8000 Series Management Software Routing Operations Release 3.1.

A VLAN is a collection of ports on one or more switches that define a broadcast domain. Passport 8000 Series switches support up to 2000 VLANs.

Passport 8600 modules support four types of VLANs:

Passport 8100 modules support two types of VLANs:

· Port-based VLANs

· Protocol-based VLANs
