IP interface configuration

Use the IP Address dialog box to configure a virtual routing port or a physical routing port. By default, IP forwarding is enabled.

Other protocols and features (such as IPX or IP filtering) can also be configured for the switch.

To configure IP for brouter or virtual router interfaces:

  1. Enable IP forwarding globally
  2. Configure IP for the interface

The following steps are optional:

  1. Configure ARP for the interface
  2. Enable or disable BootP/DHCP
  3. Viewing and inserting VRRPs
  4. Enable DVMRP globally
  5. Configuring L3 IGMP
  6. Configure RIP globally
  7. Configure OSPF for the an interface

Other protocols and features (such as IPX or IP filtering) can also be configured for the switch.

The following sections give step-by-step instructions to complete the first three steps for isolated routing ports and virtual router ports.
