Displaying IGMP snooping groups on a VLAN

Some sources do not join a multicast group before transmitting a multicast stream. When this is the case and if there are no other group members joined in the VLAN, the data is flooded to all port members of the VLAN. You can create a snooping group entry to forward multicast data streams to a particular set of ports within the VLAN. When the entry is created, multicast data streams are always forwarded to the multicast router within the VLAN in addition to the ports configured for this snooping group entry.

Note Note: IGMP snoop can guarantee delivery only of local multicast data, but it does not guarantee delivery of remote multicast data. You cannot configure a port as a static receiver in an IGMP snoop-enabled VLAN that does not contain at least one dynamic receiver port and have multicast data forwarded.

To display IGMP snooping groups on a VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > IGMP Snooping.
  2. The IGMPSnoop dialog box opens with the Globals tab displayed.
  3. Click the Snooping Group tab.
  4. The Snooping Group tab opens.

The table that follows describes the fields in the Snooping Group tab.

Field Description
Vid
Indicates the VLAN ID of the individual IGMP table entry.
GroupIpAddr
Identifies the group IP address which is captured from the IGMP packet, on a per VLAN basis.
MacAddr
Identifies the MAC address corresponding to the GroupIpAddr field, on a per VLAN basis
PortMap
Indicates which ports belong to the same multicast group on a per VLAN basis. Each multicast group has an octet string to specify with a port map. The most significant bit represents the lowest numbered port, and the least significant bit represents the highest numbered port. Thus, each port of the switch is represented by a single bit within the value of this object.
IpGroupReportCount
Indicates how many report packets were received that corresponded with the IGMP function entry enabled on a per VLAN basis.
