Configuring Layer 3 multicast MAC filtering

In Layer 3, the 8000 Series switch must be able to route an IP frame to a unicast IP address and flood it with a destination multicast MAC address. You must then manually define a static ARP entry that associates an IP address with a multicast MAC and flooding ports and MLT.

To configure the MAC address for Layer 3 multicast flooding:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IP Routing > IP > Multicast ARP.
  2. The Multicast ARP tab opens.
  3. To add a MAC address, click the Insert button.
  4. The Insert Multicast dialog box opens.
    1. Click the arrow next to the VlanId text box to choose the VLAN.
    2. Enter the MAC address in the MacAddress text box.
    3. Enter the IP address in the IpAddress text box.
    4. Click the ellipsis (...) next to the Ports text box and choose from the list of ports that appear.
    5. Click Ok.
    6. Choose from the list of Mltids.
    7. When you finish entering the required information in the dialog box, click Insert.
    8. You will then return to the Multicast ARP tab.
