Configuring an active or passive VLAN type

You can configure a VLAN as active or passive when the interface is disabled.

To configure an active or passive VLAN type:

  1. From the Device Manager, choose VLAN > VLAN.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens with the Basic tab displayed.
  3. Select a VLAN and click IP.
  4. The IP, VLAN dialog box opens with the IP Address tab displayed.
  5. Click the DVMRP tab.
  6. The DVMRP tab opens and displays the DVMRP configuration options.
  7. Configure the interface type as follows:, make sure the interface is disabled.
  8. The Enable checkbox should not be selected. If the interface is enabled, disable the interface by deselecting the Enable checkbox.
    1. To set the interface to passive, select passive from the InterfaceType field.
    2. To set the interface to active, select active from the InterfaceType field.
    3. If you had to disable the interface to change the interface type, re-enable the interface by selecting the Enable checkbox.
  9. Click Apply to save the new configuration.
