Creating a source IP subnet-based VLAN

To create a source IP subnet-based VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens to the Basic tab.
  3. In the VLAN dialog box, click Insert.
  4. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens.
  5. In the Type field, click byIpSubnet.
  6. The fields needed to set up IP subnet-based VLANs are activated.
  7. In the ID field, type the VLAN ID.
  8. (Optional) In the Name field, type the VLAN name.
  9. If no name is entered, a default is created.
  10. (Optional) In the Color Identifier field, select the color or use the color provided.
  11. This color is used by VLAN Manager to visually distinguish the VLANs in a network.
  12. In the StgId field, select the spanning tree group ID of the VLAN.
  13. Specify port membership by clicking the ellipsis (...) for one of the following:
  14. Click each port to achieve the desired color:
  15. Click OK.
  16. The Port Membership dialog box closes, and the port members appears in the VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box.
  17. In the source IP subnet address field, enter an IP address for the VLAN.
  18. In the IP subnet mask field, enter an IP subnet mask for the VLAN.
  19. In the AgingTime field, enter the timeout period in seconds for aging out the dynamic VLAN member ports, or use the 600 second default.
  20. (Optional) In the QosLevel field, click a quality of service level (0 - 7).
  21. Click Insert.
  22. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box closes, and the source IP subnet-based VLAN appears in the Basic tab.
