| Configuring the WSM using Device Manager |
The following table describes the fields on the General tab.
Bridge MAC Address
The unique MAC address used by the bridge.
It is recommended that the bridge address be the numerically smallest MAC address of all ports that belong to the bridge. The only requirement is that the MAC Address be unique.
Bridge Port Count
The number of ports controlled by this bridging entity.
Type
Indicates the type of bridging this bridge can perform.
Aging Timeout
Sets the time period (0 to 65,535 seconds) for aging dynamically-learned forwarding information. The default is 300 seconds.
The aging time specifies the amount of time the bridge waits without receiving a packet from a station before removing the station from the forwarding database. The range is 1 to 65535 seconds, and the default is 300 seconds. To disable aging, set this parameter to 0.
Total Learned Discards
Displays the total number of Forwarding Database entries that have been discarded because of insufficient storage space in the Forwarding Database. If the counter increases, it indicates that the Forwarding Database is regularly becoming full which can degrade the performance of the subnetwork. If Learned Entry Discards shows a significant value but does not increase, it indicates the problem has occurred but is not persistent.
