Configuring UDP-based DNS server load balancing

To configure UDP-based DNS server load balancing:

  1. From the device view, select the Web Switching Module.
  2. The Web Switching Module is highlighted.
  3. From the Edit menu, choose WSM Card > L4 Switching> SLB.
  4. The Server Load Balance dialog box opens to the General tab.
  5. Click the Virtual Servers tab.
  6. The Virtual Servers tab opens.
  7. On the Virtual Servers tab, select the DNS SLB server.
  8. The virtual server number is highlighted.
  9. Click Services.
  10. The Virtual Server Services dialog box opens displaying the services for the selected virtual server.
  11. Click Insert.
  12. The Insert Virtual Server Services dialog box opens.
  13. In the Virtual Service field, type a number (1 - 8) for the UDP service.
  14. In the Virtual Port field, type 54 for the UDP DNS service.
  15. In the Real Group field, type the number of the UDP real server group, or click Browse to choose the group from a selection list.
  16. In the Real Server Port field, type 54 for the UDP DNS service.
  17. In the UDP Balancing field, click the down arrow and choose Enabled.
  18. In the Delayed Binding field, click Disabled.
  19. (Optional) In the DNS Query Load Balancing field, click Enabled.
  20. Click Insert.
  21. The UDP service is added to the Virtual Server Services for the DNS server, and the Insert Services dialog box closes.
  22. From the Virtual Server Services dialog box, click Apply > Close.
  23. The UDP service is configured and the Virtual Server Services dialog box closes.
  24. In the Server Load Balance dialog box, click close.
  25. UDP DNS load balancing is configured, and the Server Load Balance dialog box closes.
