  2. The VLAN dialog box opens with the Basis tab displayed.
  3. In the Basic tab, click Insert.
  4. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens.

  8. In the Name field, type the VLAN name (optional).
  9. If no name is entered, a default is created.

  11. Device Manager suggests a color, but you can change it. This color is used to display the different VLANs in a network.
  12. In the StgID field, select the spanning tree group ID of the VLAN.
  13. Specify the port membership by clicking the PortMembers, StaticMembers, or NotAllowedToJoin ellipsis button. For protocol types byIpSubnet, byProtocolid, and bySrcMac, use the PortMember ellipsis button.

  15. In the VlanPortMembers dialog boxclick each port button until the color representing the desired membership color is visible.

When you have two VLANs with potential members and you want to move ports from one VLAN to the other, you must change the port membership of any ports you want to move to never. Then you can assign the ports to the other VLAN. This requirement applies to both the 8000 modules and 8100 modules.

  1. Click OK. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens.
  2. In the ProtocolID field, select a protocol ID.
  3. If you are entering a UserDefined protocol, see the explanation under "Configuring user-defined protocols in protocol-based VLANs."
  4. Specify the AgingTime (the timeout period in seconds for aging out the dynamic member ports of the VLAN) or use the default of 600 seconds.
  5. This option is relevant only to the 8000 modules.
  6. Select the QosLevel.
  7. Click Insert.
  8. If you are using a 8000 module, on the VLAN Basic tab, highlight the newly created VLAN and do one of the following:
