Managing VLAN bridging

Bridging occurs in layer 2 of the OSI model, where only the MAC address in
the packet header is considered when forwarding. With the Passport 8000 Series switch, all bridging is done within the context of a VLAN where each VLAN has its own bridging configuration and forwarding table.
