Filter tab

To perform MAC-layer bridging, the switch must know the destination MAC-layer address of each device on each attached network so it can forward packets to the appropriate destination. MAC-layer addresses are then stored in the bridging table, and you can filter packet traffic based on the destination MAC-layer address information.

To view and filter traffic:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens with the Basic tab active.
  3. In the VLAN dialog box, select a VLAN and click Bridge.
  4. The Bridge, VLAN dialog box opens.
  5. In the Bridge, VLAN dialog box, click Filter.
  6. The Filter tab opens.
  7. In the Bridge, VLAN Filter tab, click Insert.
  8. The Bridge, VLAN Insert Filter dialog box opens.
  9. Enter a MAC Address from the Filter tab.
  10. Select the port where this MAC address can be found.
  11. Select the ports from which you do not want to receive packet traffic for this MAC address.
  12. Click Insert.
