Configuring a VLAN to accept tagged or untagged frames

To configure a VLAN to accept tagged or untagged frames from a port:

  1. In the Device Manager Main window, select the port.
  2. The port is highlighted.
  3. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Port.
  4. The Port dialog box opens to the Interface tab. The tab label may vary, depending on the module that you selected.
  5. Click the VLAN tab.
  6. The VLAN tab opens.
  7. To configure tagging on the port, click the PerformTagging field. This setting is applied to all VLANs associated with the port.
  8. If the box is checked, tagging is enabled. All frames sent from this port are tagged. You can either discard the tagged frames (go to Step 5) or forward them to a VLAN (go to Step 6).
  9. Do one of the following:
  10. To designate a default VLAN to associate with discarded frames, enter a VLAN ID in the Default VLAN ID field (or use the default VLAN 1).
  11. Click Apply > Close.
  12. Tagging is configured for the port.
