About VLAN tagging and port types

8000 Series switches support the IEEE 802.1Q specification for "tagging" frames and coordinating VLANs across multiple switches. The following figure shows how an additional 4-octet ("tag") header is inserted in a frame after the source address and before the frame type. The tag contains the VLAN ID associated with the frame.
