Download the Java Management Software file to a location on your workstation. The file is an executable shell script (e.g. jdm_5610.bin). 2. After downloading, open a shell and cd to the directory where you download the jdm_5610.bin file. 3. At the prompt type: sh ./jdm_5610.bin 4. After finishing the installation, the user can delete the executable shell script (e.g. jdm_5610.bin) as it is no longer needed. 5. Set the JRE131_HOME environmental variable to where the JRE 1.3.1_03 was installed. Csh example: setenv JRE131_HOME /opt/j2re1_3_1_03 Sh or ksh example: export JRE131_HOME=/opt/j2re1_3_1_03 6. To start the Java Device Manager, execute the "JDM" script file under the directory where you install the Java Management software. 7. To execute JDM from other directories, add the JDM install directory to the execution path and set environment variable JDM_HOME to the JDM install directory. Then, JDM can be launched from any directory. If JDM does not start properly, make sure that you have installed the Java Runtime Environment correctly. Also, verify your $PATH and $JRE131_HOME environment variables are set correctly. For detailed descriptions of commands and installation instructions, please refer to the Device Manager documentation available on the Nortel Networks support World Wide Web site http://www.nortelnetworks.com/servsup and the hard copy documentation. We strongly recommend reading release notes to find out about the new features and known caveats in each software release. ********************************************************************** Contact Information: Nortel Networks Technical Solutions Center Telephone Europe, Middle East, and Africa (33)(4)929-966-968 North America (800)4NORTEL OR (800)466-7835 Asia Pacific (61)(2)9927-8800 China (800)810-5000 **********************************************************************
