Assigning an IP address to a UNI port

To assign an IP address to a UNI port:

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the UNI port and choose Edit.
  2. The Port dialog box opens with the Interface tab displayed.
  3. Click the LAN Ports tab to bring it to the front.
  4. In the IpAddress box, type the IP address that you want to assign to the port.

Note Note: Unless you disable SubnettingRulesEnabled, the IP address you assign to a UNI port must be on the same subnet as the address assigned to the module. (The SubnettingRulesEnabled setting is on the UNI IP Subnetting of the OEL2 dialog box.)

The module IP address is shown on the Addresses tab of the IP Dialog box.

When interoperating with the OM 8000 switch, the IP address for each UNI port on the front panel of the OM 1200 ESM module and OM 1450 ESM module must have unique 15 least significant bits unique and 17 most significant bits set to 0. This gives you an address range of 0.0.0.1 to 0.0.127.255.

  5. Click Apply.
