Configuring a real server group

To configure a real (physical) server group:

  1. From the device view, select the Web Switching Module.
  2. The Web Switching Module is highlighted.
  3. From the Edit menu, choose WSM Card > L4 Switching > SLB.
  4. The Server Load Balance dialog box opens to the General tab.
  5. Click the Real Groups tab.
  6. The Real Groups tab opens.
  7. Click Insert.
  8. The Insert Real Groups dialog box opens.
  9. In the Group field, type the group number (1 - 256) for the real server group.
  10. In the Name field, type a name of up to 31 characters for the group.
  11. In the Metric field, choose a load balancing metric (roundrobin, leastConnections, minmisses, hash, response, or bandwidth) for the group. For more information, see About load balancing metrics.
  12. In the Backup field, click the down arrow and choose either Real Server or Real Group; and type the backup server or group number in the text field. For more information, see About connection timeouts for real servers.
  13. Use the other fields to further define the real server group.
  14. Click Insert.
  15. The real server group is inserted into the Real Groups tab and the Insert Real Groups dialog box closes.
  16. To add the real servers to this group, in the Real Groups tab, select the group.
  17. The row is highlighted.
  18. Click Servers.
  19. The Select Real Servers to include in Group dialog box opens .
  20. Click the real servers you want to add to the group.
  21. The rows are highlighted.

    Caution! Caution: If there are already servers in the group, you must use CTRL + Click when selecting new members in this dialog box. If you just choose the new server and click Modify, only the new server is added, and existing server members are removed.

  22. Click Modify.
  23. The real servers are added to the group in the Real Groups tab, and the Select Real Servers to include in Group dialog box closes.
  24. In the Real Groups tab, click Apply > Close.
  25. The real server group is configured and the SLB dialog box closes.
